Increase in court fees and @cipdlondon @cmi_managers #HR #Law

BusinessHR: “Civil courts: as from 9 March, the fees for lodging a claim of more than £10,000 in the civil courts were increased. Claims of more than £10,000 now have a fee of 5% of the value of the claim, up to a maximum £10,000. (Fees remain at their current levels for claims with a value under £10,000.) The civil courts therefore remain a cheaper option than the employment tribunal for breach of contract claims of less than £3,000. They are also used for breach of contract claims in excess of £25,000 (which will now be much more expensive to lodge) and breach of contract claims from existing employees (which cannot be brought in an employment tribunal). Applications for injunctions for breach of restrictive covenants or misuse of confidential information are also brought in the civil courts.”
